Bill Russell, Artistic Director, Dayton Celtic Festival

The Dayton Celtic Festival received numerous positive comments about the Bruno's Boys in our festival surveys. The Bruno's Boys were a wonderful addition to our festival and provided a key link to the wonderful ballad music that sparked the renewed interest in Irish music many years ago. Their performances are true to the spirit and quality of traditional Irish ballads and were a favorite of all our festival attendees. We look forward to their return to our festival in the future.

Bruno's Boys Back in the Buckeye State
Irish American News - July 2007
Those boys from that state up north are winning numerous fans and new gigs, after their hit performance at last year's Cleveland Irish Cultural Festival. Bruno's Boys feature rollicking renditions of great Irish ballad classics, sung with clear voice, passion and a bit of the story behind the song. July gigs include appearances at Cleveland Irish Cultural Festival, July 20-22 and the Dayton Celtic Festival, July 27-29.

Review from 2006 Cleveland Irish Festival
John O'Brien Jr.
Making their first appearance at Cleveland's Irish Cultural Festival, Bruno's Boys played to great reviews and are certain to be a crowd favorite throughout the festival circuit.  Respect for the Irish folk tradition joined with their own signature sound and presentation made them a big hit in Cleveland.  - John O'Brien, Jr., Assistant Director, Cleveland's Irish Cultural Festival.

This is an absolutely charming collection of great Irish tunes, and Bruno's Boys do them justice, performing with flair and energy. What will you hear? Just two guys playing their hearts out and having a great time--Paul Bruno on guitar, accordion and bodhran and Derek Wade on mandolin and harmonica. And they do just fine--all on their own.
The guys sing the songs together, which is great--it adds a real bit of pep to the sound. The combination of the two voices is really what makes this CD terrific, instead of just a good bunch of songs--it's as if they pick energy up from one another and continue to cycle it throughout the entire song. (Oh--and the harmonica--can't forget the harmonica, a simply wonderful addition!)
The album begins with "Whiskey You're the Devil" and ends with "Whiskey is the Life of Man," a rather appropriate sandwiching of things all things considered. In-between those two songs other tunes here include some favorites such as "Drunken Sailor," "Finnegan's Wake" and "Black Velvet Band," all done quite well. This is the band's second CD, and there is a third in the making....and if this one is any indication....it will be one to look forward to!

There are "have a pint of plain" nights and there are "get frisky with some whiskey" nights. For the latter you need to go to Detroit (and pretend it's Dublin) and ask these two brothers to provide the appropriate theme music. The boys perform traditional Irish songs in such a boisterous fashion that even nonbelievers will wind up slurring "Millie up!"

O'Callaghans Irish Pub - September 2006
Matt Ferrara - General Manager
The first time I heard Bruno’s Boys play I knew that I had the perfect band for the pub.  Their energy is infectious, inspiring both the lad just over from Dublin or the American who has never heard anything more Irish than Whiskey in the Jar.  Their mixture of traditional ballads, rebel songs, and dirty drinking songs keeps the crowd singing and drinking along into the late hours of the evening.  Every time they play in our pub, people cannot wait to have them back again.  They truly bring together the patrons like no acoustic act or cover band ever does.  If I could make copies of the boys I’d never need to hire another band, they are professional, personal, and just plain fun.

A Great CD!

A great Cd-excellent spirit of Irish music!

The CD has raucous cuts while others are representing the gentle spirit of the Irish! It's actually difficult to stand still with this CD playing, an excellent effort by the Brawlers

Is you pint of Guinness missing something? Perhaps a little Irish music would help, courtesy of two-piece Irish pub band Bruno's Boys, whose specialty is " Songs of Irish tradition kicked square in the arse!"
